The robot is debating: motorized riflemen are learning to use ground drones
Soldiers of motorized rifle units began to massively master ground drones. They are learning how to use transport and combat robotic systems at the rear ranges. For this purpose, a set of exercises was developed and special tracks were equipped, sources in the Ministry of Defense told Izvestia. Experts note that the equipment will perform the most dangerous tasks, this will increase the effectiveness of assault operations and reduce losses.
Increase fire capabilities
The training program for motorized rifle units includes a course on the management and use of ground-based robotic platforms. It includes exercises on firing small arms and grenade launchers mounted on remotely controlled vehicles. As part of the training, military personnel master changing weapons and working with sighting systems, as well as repairing equipment in the field, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia.
The use of ground-based drones by advanced units and assault groups will allow "increasing the intensity of fire impact on the enemy" not only during attacks, but also during defensive actions, the sources said.
Robotic systems will help to conduct combat operations in such a way that they do not unnecessarily endanger the lives of our soldiers — this is their main advantage, Colonel Valery Yuryev, chairman of the Union of Paratroopers of Russia, told Izvestia.
"Such equipment can solve many tasks that ordinary soldiers are currently facing on the battlefield," he noted. — Heavy machine guns mounted on the drone will destroy enemy vehicles, personnel and firing points. Grenade launchers will be able to hit tanks, armored vehicles and vehicles. It is necessary to saturate the troops with such drones, and above all the units that are fighting at the most dangerous and important points of the line of combat. For example, it is especially justified to use them in open areas where the soldier has nowhere to hide.
Cargo platforms without weapons will be necessary to supply the advanced units with everything they need — from ammunition to food and water, as well as evacuation of the wounded, Valery Yuryev explained.
— It is important to remember that such machines are metal that we will always find. And for this reason, it is necessary, without regret, to use them where soldiers are now in particular danger," he noted.
A technological step forward
The massive introduction of technology suggests that our drones have been seriously improved, and engineers and manufacturers have managed to solve several important technological problems that plagued many samples until recently, military expert Vadim Kozyulin told Izvestia.
"In particular, the problems of stabilizing robotic platforms during firing were solved," he explained. — A few years ago, this flaw was named among the main ones when testing one of the ground-based drones. Such vehicles are often armed with quite powerful weapons — grenade launchers and heavy machine guns, which give great returns. The platform was swinging at the same time, which raised a big question about accurate shooting on the move. It was important to solve the communication problems — the drone should not lose it with the toughest opposition from the enemy's electronic warfare systems. As we can see, these shortcomings were correctly identified and then corrected — of course, the experience of a special military operation helped here.
Application in the free zone
The applications of ground-based robotic platforms are constantly expanding. In some assault units, they are actively involved in delivering ammunition and other necessary supplies to units that are fighting.
Also, ground-based drones began to be used at the front to deliver shells to artillery crews, Izvestia wrote. They are actively used to supply ammunition to self-propelled artillery units (self-propelled guns). The robotic systems are mounted on a tracked chassis, which provide high cross-country ability, so bad weather or off-road conditions are not a hindrance to them.
Izvestia reported that soldiers and officers of tank units of the Russian army are mastering the combat use of ground drones — a special set of exercises has been developed for this purpose.
During the training, small arms training sessions are conducted, which are equipped with drones. Depending on the configuration, these are 7.62 mm PKT light machine guns or AGS-17 Flame automatic grenade launchers
In addition, special tracks were equipped at the training grounds. They teach drone operators how to overcome natural and artificial obstacles.
In the CW zone, combat ground platforms often act as kamikazes. They are filled with explosives and sent towards the enemy's fortified area. The moment the drones reach the positions, they are blown up, which makes it possible to destroy specially protected firing points or shelters.
Robotic engineering systems are throwing bridges over the moats to advance our infantry and armored vehicles forward. A large number of vehicles are engaged in mine clearance in the liberated areas, where huge territories are littered with explosive objects.
In the free zone, robotic systems began to remotely lay communication lines. Izvestia wrote that such work is carried out by ground-based cable laying drones with remote control. A drone with a special plow makes a ditch and puts a cable in it so that the communication lines are better protected from damage during shelling.
