This year, for the first time, the Russian Federation is sending a delegation of game developers to the Indian city of Chennai for the largest India Game Developer Conference (IGDC). Key participants include RuStore, Overmobile, Terrabyte, and Indie Go. The main premieres will be the author's project NightFall Shade in the genre of dark fantasy and the adventure Midnight Souls, which combined the spirit of the 1990s with satire and horror. For more information about which other games will be presented by domestic developers, see the Izvestia article.

What Russian projects will be shown in India

The selection of video game studios for participation in the India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), which will be held from November 5 to 7 in Chennai, India, has been completed in the capital. Ten companies will present their projects at the stand of the Moscow Cluster of Video Games and Animation, Izvestia learned.

The main premiere will be the game NightFall Shade, a gloomy 2D action game with elements of survival from Kirill Fatkin. In a dark fantasy world destroyed by a long siege, the player will have to fully immerse himself in the atmosphere of a painful but attractive universe. The mobile direction is represented by Overmobile Studio with their popular three-in-a-row Magic World game, which has already gathered tens of thousands of fans.

Another key project is Sergei Bolshakov's Midnight Souls, which captures the atmosphere of the 1990s. Panel houses, garages, carpets on the walls and nostalgic references are combined with satirical humor and horror elements. Players will find the secrets of the town of Chamomile Hills, meetings with unusual characters and unexpected discoveries.

Terrabyte Games Studio will present Run Away From Me: Alexandra, a project about a girl captured by a maniac. The game was developed in Russia without attracting external investments, with an emphasis on sound, lighting and interactivity. The project is already being localized into English, Russian and Japanese. Participation in the conference will be a continuation of the Asian trend after the screenings in Japan and Russia, and will also provide an opportunity to receive feedback from the Indian audience.

Viktor Zvyaginsky, head of the studio, noted that such events make it possible to quickly test hypotheses, build a strategy for entering Asian markets and form professional connections, which is especially important for small teams.

Kin-Dza-Dza Games will present the Pushmyau: The Game project, which is aimed at a global teenage audience. The game is based on a new Russian franchise supported by major media companies, publishers, and merchandising manufacturers. According to Alexey Yarovit, CEO of the studio, participation in the Indian conference will help draw attention to the project, test it on an international audience and establish contacts with new partners.

"If such work is carried out systematically, I am sure that domestic studios will be able to significantly expand their presence in promising foreign markets," he said.

The Indie Go community of independent developers will also take part in the conference. They noted that IGDC is of strategic importance for the development of Russian indie, as it allows them to establish international relations, attract the attention of investors and receive feedback from players.

— We are going to Chennai to establish a professional dialogue and present new projects, — said representatives of the community.

During the conference, Russian developers will hold talks with foreign partners, present computer and mobile video games, and participate in the business program of the exhibition. Communication areas with potential investors and partners will be organized at the stand, as well as platforms for demonstrating Moscow gaming products.

One of the key goals of the trip to India will be the presentation of the Moscow Cluster of Video Games and Animation. This is the world's first full-cycle technology park, combining infrastructure for graphics and sound production, accelerators, tax incentives and export support. Russian and foreign studios ready to open representative offices in Moscow will become its residents. In addition to the cluster, the accelerator "Video Game Factory", which unites novice and professional developers, operates in the capital.

Why are domestic developers going to Chennai

The selection of studios for IGDC was conducted for the first time. India is considered one of the priority areas for the development of international cooperation in the field of game development. According to the analytical agencies Newzoo and Statista, the country is among the top ten world leaders in terms of gaming audience.

The RuStore press service called the trip an important step in developing an international presence and getting to know the gaming community.

— Indian developers are focused on the production of games and applications for Android — the share of this platform in the country is more than 95%. Therefore, we see significant potential for the development of the Russian-Indian partnership in the gaming sector, especially in the distribution of simulator, shooter and MMO games," the company told Izvestia.

Russian products are still little known to Indian players, but the potential for their promotion is estimated to be high. The participation of Moscow companies in the IGDC is considered as a step towards expanding the export opportunities of the Moscow gaming industry, the Moscow Creative Industries Agency (AKI) noted. It is the organizer of the business mission with the expert support of the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVRI).

This is the agency's fourth video game trip abroad in 2025. Previously, Moscow developer delegations participated in China Joy exhibitions in China, Tokyo Game Show in Japan and Indonesia Game Developer eXchange in Indonesia.

In China, representatives of Moscow companies held more than 100 meetings with potential partners, as a result of which a number of studios signed contracts. In Japan, the stand of the Moscow Cluster became one of the most visited at the exhibition, and in Indonesia, negotiations were initiated on cooperation with large holdings and an investment fund of more than $300 million, as well as negotiations with Korean partners on publishing Russian games on local platforms, the AKI press service said.

According to Vyacheslav Utochkin, co-founder of the Geeky House gaming company, participation in business missions gives companies real commercial results.

— Our company recently visited a similar mission in China, and now it is already at the stage of signing two contracts with regional publishers for our games, which, hopefully, will lead to positive financial results, — he said.

According to him, international cooperation contributes to the development of the industry and the creation of new joint projects. The participation of Moscow studios in IGDC is considered as part of a systematic effort to promote Russian game content on international platforms and develop business ties with fast-growing Asian markets, the expert believes.
