The MP spoke about the idea of creating a free trade zone in Ukraine
Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed the opinion that Russia does not exclude the possibility of creating a free economic zone in Ukraine, provided it operates within the framework of current legislation, but the details of implementation are of key importance.
"If this zone operates in accordance with our legislation, if this zone allows access to some investments from around the world, then we need to look at why not, but what are the nuances," Chepa explained in an interview with Lenta.Ru on Monday, December 29th.
According to him, Russia does not support the creation of such a zone in territories under the control of the state, while stressing that for final conclusions it is necessary to have full information on this initiative.
Earlier, on December 29, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that at the moment Kiev and Washington are not discussing the creation of a demilitarized zone along the line of contact. According to him, the parties are considering the idea of forming a free economic zone in Ukraine, but this issue has not yet been worked out in detail and requires further discussion in the framework of negotiations with the United States.
