Prices for the main vegetables of the borscht set in Russia have decreased significantly over the year. This was reported on December 29 by analysts at NTech.
According to their data, white cabbage has fallen in price most noticeably.
"During the period from December 8 to December 21, Russian consumers bought cabbage at an average price of 29.6 rubles per kilogram, or 31% cheaper compared to the same period last year," experts told RIA Novosti.
Potatoes decreased in price by 23% over the year and in mid-December cost an average of 44.7 rubles per kg. Beetroot, tomatoes and onions also fell by 16% to 34.9 rubles, 270.2 rubles and 44.5 rubles per kg, respectively. Cucumbers and carrots became cheaper by 9% and 2% and were sold on average for 220.7 rubles and 39.9 rubles per kg.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that by the New Year holidays in 2025, cooking one sandwich with red caviar would cost Russians about 168 rubles. Analysts noted that the main share of the cost of a set of products is caviar, the average price of which per 200 grams exceeds 2.9 thousand rubles, while bread and butter remain much more affordable.
