Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky intends to convince American leader Donald Trump to put pressure on Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict at the upcoming talks in the United States. This was reported on December 28 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Zelensky does not expect the Russian government to agree to all the conditions of Ukraine and Europe, so he intends to convince Trump to put pressure on Moscow. The Ukrainian leader also again called on European politicians to ensure stable financing of assistance to the Armed Forces.

It is noted that Zelensky may agree to the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from the territory of Donbass, provided Russia agrees to do the same to create a buffer zone. He also stated the need for a referendum.

Earlier, the White House reported that US President Donald Trump and Zelensky will hold a meeting on Sunday, December 28, in Florida at 21:00 Moscow time.

On December 26, Trump called Zelensky's proposals to resolve the conflict "irrelevant" until he personally approves them. It is noted that the politician reacted "rather coolly" to Zelensky's latest proposal for a settlement.
