The media reported on Mindich's refusal to return to Ukraine from Israel
Businessman Timur Mindich, suspected of corruption in the energy sector, refused to return to Ukraine from Israel. The Ukrainska Pravda newspaper writes about this on December 23.
"To summarize, Mr. Mindich is not ready to return (to Ukraine — Ed.), he will be in Israel, like the other person involved in this case. Having Israeli citizenship is very convenient," the article says.
It is noted that Mindich is not ready to testify. According to the newspaper, the businessman himself called the investigation against himself "manipulation."
Earlier, on December 18, Ruslan Magamedrasulov, a detective with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), said there was strong evidence that the former head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Andriy Ermak, was involved in the Mindich corruption case.
On November 10, NABU revealed a money laundering scheme in the country's energy sector, through which about $100 million passed. At that time, seven people were charged, including Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).
The Ukrainska Pravda newspaper, citing a survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on December 18, reported that about 59% of Ukrainians consider Zelensky responsible for the actions of his closest associate Mindich in the framework of a major corruption scandal in the country.
