Alexander Fedorovich, a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist of the highest category, told me when going to a psychologist and therapy can be harmful.

In the podcast "Pisses Me Off" at Studio P1 on Monday, December 22, he noted that people often seek advice not for internal changes, but in the hope of influencing others or justifying their own mistakes. Often, instead of working on themselves, clients look for a way to control others or confirm their own correctness — it is precisely on such requests, according to the doctor, that the pseudopsychology market is based with promises of quick solutions.

The expert stressed that the choice of a psychologist should be treated as carefully as the search for a doctor of any other specialty. When choosing a psychologist, it is important to check the relevant education and experience, be wary of promises of quick results and avoid specialists who blame, justify or dictate ready-made solutions. Real therapy is about helping you find your own answers, not control or "magic" guarantees.

Fedorovich added that it is worth contacting a psychologist not because of fashion, but when you really need a guide in your own experiences. Sometimes the most important thing is to honestly ask yourself if therapy is really necessary or if you should put your life in order first. Real change begins with an inner willingness to take responsibility for yourself, not with buzzwords and the very fact of going to a specialist.

On the same day, psychologist Anetta Orlova told kp.ru how to properly tune in to celebrate the New Year. The expert urged not to wait for the new year to change everything by itself, but to learn to appreciate what has already been lived. She recommended recording at least 30 pleasant events of the past year. The psychologist explained that the brain tends to hold negativity, so conscious attention to the good helps reduce anxiety and internal tension.

At the same time, psychologist Olga Simich stated that it was important for children to believe in miracles. According to her, believing in a miracle also helps to develop a positive attitude towards life and find joy in small things, writes RT.

Also on December 22, psychologist Yulia Koroleva urged Russians to realize that holidays are necessary for recreation. In her opinion, excessive emphasis on productivity and efficiency can deprive holidays of their main meaning — a moment of unity and relaxation, according to RIAMO.

On December 19, Ekaterina Makarova, a clinical psychologist and doctor of integrative medicine, told Izvestia that the absence of company may not be a reason for longing, but an opportunity for conscious and intense leisure, if approached strategically.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
