- "Conversations about important things" on December 22 — topic and program of the lesson
On Monday, December 22, schools and colleges in the country will host another lesson from the series "Talking about important things." During the conversation, students, together with teachers, will discuss the moral foundations of actions and moral responsibility towards themselves and society within the framework of the topic "What conscience says". Izvestia tells about how the lesson will be held in different classes.
"Talking about important things" December 22 — lesson topic
Since childhood, thanks to family and school, each of us learns basic concepts about good and bad deeds. However, as a person grows up, they have to learn to distinguish good from evil on their own. Conscience becomes his assistant in this — that inner "compass" and judge that everyone has.
The lesson topic is designed to help students better understand this fundamental moral concept, which is widely reflected in world and Russian culture, as well as to realize the role of personal choice and responsibility for their actions.
Shalva Amonashvili, Doctor of Psychology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education (RAE), founder of the unique field of humane and personal pedagogy, which focuses on the child's spiritual development, will join the video interview lesson.
The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. Videos, presentations, and interactive tasks that have been developed taking into account the age of students will help you learn the topic. Methodological materials and recommendations for teachers can be found on the project's website.
"Conversations about important things" December 22 — lesson program
For elementary school students in grades 1-4, the conversation will begin with simple and understandable examples. The students will discuss why some actions are considered good and others bad, and what feelings they feel when doing good deeds. The practical part includes the game "Good and bad deeds", where children analyze situations suggested by the teacher. For clarity, a fragment of the cartoon "Piglet" will be used, after watching which schoolchildren will talk about how conscience helps us to do the right thing.
Students in grades 5-7 will reflect on the meaning of the expressions "voice of conscience", "unscrupulous person" and "clear conscience". Then they will complete the interactive task "What conscience says" and analyze several typical situations, offering their choice dictated by their inner voice. The teacher will also suggest discussing a poem by poet Eduard Asadov about what actions make your heart "freeze" and why it is important to be able to admit your mistakes.
In grades 8-9, the lesson will become more philosophical. Students will discuss whether a person can live without conscience and why, despite the discomfort, it is important to listen to her "voice". In the sequel, they will be asked to choose synonyms for the word "conscience" and establish a connection with such a concept as "justice", which was discussed in detail in the last lesson. The key points will be an analysis of the parable of a man who locked his conscience in a cellar, and the game "Spaceship", during which the children will have to make a difficult moral choice.
High school students, grades 10-11, will talk about their personal experiences when they had to make concessions with their conscience, and discuss whether it is possible to correct the consequences of an unscrupulous act and how to cultivate a conscience. Then they will present their understanding of the words of the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy that "conscience is the memory of society, assimilated by an individual."
Colleges will pay special attention to the reflection of the concept of "conscience" in Russian culture and how it relates to such moral characteristics as "duty", "honesty", "mercy", which academician Dmitry Likhachev spoke a lot about in his writings. The interactive part of the lesson includes a discussion of a fragment of the program "BesogonTV" and the game "Trial by Jury", during which students will act as a prosecutor, lawyer, jurors and analyze simulated situations.
Thus, during the lesson, students will come to the conclusion that conscience is an important internal mechanism that helps distinguish good from evil and make the right decisions that meet both personal and public interests. They will also learn that actions committed according to conscience form not only a person's self-respect, but also trust in him from others, which is the basis for building harmonious relationships in school, family and team.
