Rosatom supplies innovative fuel for research in Uzbekistan
Rosatom has supplied innovative nuclear fuel for a research reactor in Uzbekistan. The corresponding press release was published on the official website of the Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL on December 17.
"Rosatom's fuel division (the management company is TVEL JSC) has fulfilled a contract with the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the supply of modified nuclear fuel for the VVR—SM research reactor," the statement said.
The fuel produced by the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant has a higher concentration of uranium compared to the standard IRT-4M fuel cartridges previously supplied to Uzbekistan. Due to this, a proportional increase in the duration of the reactor fuel campaign can be ensured.
On December 15, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom State Corporation, launched Russia's first gigafactory for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles in the Kaliningrad Region. According to him, the opening should ensure the development of green electricity in the territory of the Russian Federation.
