Putin signed a law banning the execution of foreign court decisions in Russia
On December 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that prohibits the execution of judgments of foreign criminal and international judicial authorities in the country. The relevant document has been published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
According to the law, decisions of foreign courts conducting criminal proceedings on the basis of powers delegated to them by other states without the participation of Russia are not subject to implementation in the Russian Federation.
A similar prohibition applies to international judicial authorities if their jurisdiction is not established by an international treaty of the Russian Federation or a resolution of the UN Security Council adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the organization.
In early November, Putin noted that the trust of Russian residents in the state is based on trust in the courts. In addition, the head of state congratulated Igor Krasnov, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, on his appointment, and expressed gratitude for protecting the rights of Russians.
