Vucic confirmed the holding of snap elections in Serbia in 2026
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that snap parliamentary elections will be held in 2026. He announced this on December 28, speaking to citizens outside the parliament building in Belgrade.
"We accepted their main demand — we will go to the polls soon, next year," Vucic said.
The Head of State expressed confidence that next year will be a success for the country, and noted that human casualties were avoided during the protests.
"I believe that the coming year will be one of the best, if not the best, in the history of Serbia," the president concluded.
Earlier, on November 5, it was reported that the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime had accused Vucic of abuse and abuse of authority. The reason for the accusations was the president's comments in an interview with TV Prva, where he criticized the work of the department.
