The men who rescued children from the river in Balashikha shared the details of the incident

Two men came to the aid of children who fell through the ice on the Pekhorka River in Balashikha. They told about it on December 28 in an interview with Izvestia.

"We heard "Save, help". I told the girls to be quiet. <...> I called my mom first, then I ran to look for adults," said eyewitness Olivia Ferenco.

One of the men who saved the children, Artur Panov, said that he himself ended up in the water helping the boys.

"I looked out the window, I see the fuss here in the river. <...> I ran straight to the water. I tried to lie down on the ice," Panov shared, adding that he fell through thin ice, and one of the children had already stopped floundering.

Alexey Kiryukhin, the second participant in the rescue, noted that the boys were in a very deep place in the river, where they could not reach the bottom, and at some point he himself went under the water with his head.

"I looked out the window, at first I didn't understand. <...> Well, I hear the screams don't stop. <...> So, I crawled to him [the child], and when I started to pull him out, <...> we failed together. <...> Artur really helped me," Kiriukhin said.

He added that together with Panov, he led the boys into the entrance, helped one of them take off his wet clothes and forced him to squat down to keep warm.

Earlier that day, it was reported that at about 18:00 Moscow time on December 27, two brothers aged nine and 11 were riding down a slide near a residential complex on Yaganova Street and fell through the ice. The first passerby pushed the younger one onto the ice, while supporting the older one. Later, the second joined them, who helped both children to get out and provided first aid to the youngest.

The Moscow Region Prosecutor's Office has begun checking the performance of duties of legal representatives and juvenile neglect prevention agencies.
