The Russian Drama Theater in Mariupol has resumed operations after renovation work, during which the building preserved its historical appearance and received modern technical equipment. This was reported by Izvestia on December 28.

The renovated theater has restored sculptures on the pediment, installed elevators for people with limited mobility, and installed new stage equipment.

In particular, the building has a turntable, a modern stage tablet, an orchestra pit with three position modes and 84 lifting mechanisms for electronically controlled decorations. The auditorium has a capacity of 520 seats and can be expanded by transforming the orchestra pit.

The drama theater was blown up on March 16, 2022 by militants of the Azov terrorist group banned in Russia.

Earlier, on October 30, it was reported that the restoration of the Mariupol Drama Theater in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is in the final stages. At that time, it was noted that the facade and interior works were almost completed, as well as the installation of a stage that can rotate 360 degrees. The first performance was scheduled to take place at the end of December.
