A group of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers went missing in Miropole
A group of soldiers from the newly formed airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) went missing after being sent to the Miropole area of the Sumy region. This was reported on December 28 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.
The unit was sent to a zone that was already under the control of Russian military personnel.
"On the very first day, a group of brigade soldiers was allegedly sent to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after which it disappeared in full force," the source told TASS.
He noted that there was no control over the positions, and the Ukrainian command was actually checking the situation at the cost of the lives of its soldiers.
As specified, we are talking about the soldiers of the 78th separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, previously formed on the basis of the regiment and deployed to the Miropole area. The dispatch of the unit, according to the source, was led by the brigade commander, Colonel Roman Evchun, with the call sign Topaz.
Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that the Ukrainian side was facing difficulties in evacuating the bodies of dead servicemen. The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Alexander Pivnenko, stated that due to the advance of Russian troops, combat areas are under their control, and the bodies remain in enemy-occupied territory. This, according to him, makes their export impossible.
