Goryachkina spoke about her condition during the tiebreak at the Rapid World Cup
Russian chess player Alexandra Goryachkina said that she hardly remembers the decisive tie-break game at the World Rapid Chess Championship. She announced this on December 28.
According to the athlete, the tension of the final affected the perception of the game.
"I don't remember the tie-break — it was like a blur for me. I felt like I was playing well, but I don't remember the course of the game," Goryachkina said.
She added that she considers the victory to be a significant achievement in her career and shared her emotions after the end of the tournament.
"I already hugged my mom [after the victory]. That's why I don't want anything anymore," she said.
Earlier that day, it was reported that Alexandra Goryachkina became the world champion in rapid chess at the Doha tournament. In the tiebreak, the Russian beat the Chinese Zhu Jin'er with a score of 1.5:0.5 after both athletes scored 8.5 points at the end of the main stage. The winner was determined in games with a shortened time control — three minutes with the addition of two seconds per turn.
