Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen overestimates his own importance. This was announced on December 28 by Sergey Smagin, Vice President of the Russian Chess Federation.

"We've already gotten used to his outrageous behavior. One minute he's going to be late for the party, the next he's going to have a fight over the dress code, and now he's pushed the journalist away. In my opinion, he overestimates his greatness and importance in chess," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the agency's interlocutor, psychology played a key role in the outcome of the meeting. Russian chess player Vladislav Artemyev found an option that leads to eternal chess, and Carlsen overestimated his game and decided to continue the game. This decision led to a tactical error, which the Russian grandmaster used as accurately as possible.

Artemyev's victory in the tournament was reported earlier that day. After seven rounds, the two-time champion of Russia scored 6.5 points. 12 chess players are one point behind the leader, among whom there is also another Russian, Alexander Shimanov.

On December 27, Carlsen pushed away the camera of the cameraman filming him after losing to Russian Vladislav Artemyev at the World Rapid Championship in Doha. After the loss, the Norwegian player shook hands with the winner and started to leave the game room. At that moment, he pushed the camera of the cameraman who was following him and filming the chess player.
