The United States intends to build its own base on the moon. This was announced on December 28 by billionaire and new head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Jared Isaakman.

"We are going to build a base on the moon," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier, on November 30, Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin said that NASA's plans to create a village on the Moon where people can live as early as 2035 are absolutely unrealistic. According to the cosmonaut, there is currently no complete concept for the construction of lunar settlements, as well as the necessary means of cargo delivery.

Prior to that, on September 23, the Reuters news agency, citing NASA representatives, reported that the first manned flight of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under the Artemis-2 program would take place in April 2026. It was noted that this will be a 10-day flight in which a crew of four astronauts will fly around the Moon and return back to Earth.
