Investigators have opened a criminal case into the death of an eight-year-old girl as a result of a fire in a private house in Chapaevsk, Samara region. This was reported on December 28 in the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence)," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the preliminary version of the investigation, the cause of the fire was careless handling of fire. All the circumstances of the incident are currently being established, and the necessary examinations have been appointed.
