The use of QR codes for cross-border payments is actively expanding, and Russian banks, together with foreign partners, have already conducted hundreds of thousands of such operations. This was announced on December 28 by Alla Bakina, Director of the Department of the National Payment System of the Bank of Russia.

"Our banks and foreign partners are showing active interest. The QR code is gaining popularity not only in our country, it is a global trend, especially in the countries of the Southeast," TASS quoted her as saying.

Bakina stressed that many states are interested in making it easier for tourists to pay for goods and services, and this payment method is excellent. According to her, the number of QR code operations is increasing.

Earlier, on October 12, the National Payment Card System (NSPK) and VTB presented a unique payment scenario through the Fast Payment System (SBP) at the FINOPOLIS-2025 forum. The service will allow the bank's customers to generate a QR code themselves and pay for their purchases quickly and safely. It was clarified that the new method will be available in VTB Online. Before making a payment, the customer selects a debit account using the "pay with my QR" button in the "payments" section and generates a QR code. Next, it is enough for the user to show the code to the seller, who scans it.
