Russia continues to advocate the creation of a viable Palestinian State as a key condition for resolving the conflict in the Middle East. This was announced on December 28 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview following the results of 2025.

The Minister stressed that regardless of the development of the situation in the Gaza Strip, the Russian side remains committed to the international legal framework for the settlement.

"The main thing here is to correct historical injustice and ensure the creation of a viable Palestinian state that will coexist with Israel," Lavrov told TASS.

He also added that without resolving this issue, "it is difficult to imagine what can guarantee lasting peace for the Palestinians and Jews, and for all other peoples of the Middle East."

Earlier, on December 26, it was reported that the White House feared a possible resumption of hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. According to US officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite disagreements with the administration of US President Donald Trump, may try to enlist Washington's support to continue the hard line.
