On December 27, the Russian Tennis Federation (RTR) announced that the National Center for Sports Arbitration (NCSA) had satisfied the organization's claim against tennis player Elina Avanesyan in the case of damages due to non-fulfillment of the sports training agreement.

It is noted that in August 2024, the athlete changed her sports citizenship from Russian to Armenian.

"The NCSA has been reviewing the dispute for several months and ruled in favor of the FTR. The tennis player will be obliged to reimburse the FTR for the amounts of losses established by the NCSA, compensation from tennis income provided for in the sports training agreement, and other expenses of the FTR," the federation said in a statement.

Avanesyan is the winner of 14 ITF tournaments in singles and doubles. She ranks 118th in the WTA rankings, Sport-Express adds.

Earlier, on December 15, Russian tennis player Polina Kudermetova changed her citizenship. The profile of the 22-year-old tennis player states that she will now represent Uzbekistan. Kudermetova herself has not yet commented on the information about the change of citizenship.
