Peskov called Ukraine's statement about the lack of money for the elections a trick.

Statements about the lack of funds for the presidential elections in Ukraine are a ploy by Kiev to receive money from the West. This was announced on December 26 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"I don't know to what extent the statement of [Adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail] Podolyaka reflects the official point of view of Kiev," he said.

Peskov also said that Kiev is resorting to "all sorts of tricks" to get funding from the West.
