The State Duma adopted a bill to extend the OGE in only two subjects.
On December 18, deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) adopted a bill extending the experiment to simplify admission to secondary vocational education (SPE) organizations until 2029 and expand the number of participants to 12 regions. The corresponding draft is posted in the database of draft laws of the State Duma.
As part of this experiment, ninth graders who plan to continue their studies in vocational education institutions can take only two compulsory subjects — Russian and mathematics, instead of four exams.
Initially, the experiment took place only in three regions — Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Lipetsk region. Now 12 regions are participating in it, including Tatarstan, the Kamchatka Territory, Moscow, Murmansk, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver and Tyumen regions, as well as the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.
As noted by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, by the end of 2025, 28% of students chose to take only compulsory subjects. There is also an increase in recruitment for sought-after professions in construction, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, digital technologies, pedagogy and medicine.
"28% of 9th grade graduates in these regions chose only compulsory academic subjects for the exam. 42% more budget places were created in institutions of secondary vocational education," he said in a message on the Telegram channel.
On November 8, the Russian government submitted to the State Duma a bill to extend until 2029 the experiment on passing the OGE in only two subjects in some regions. It was clarified that this initiative was submitted in connection with the social significance of the project.
