Lukashenko spoke about Trump's advice to negotiate with Russia
On December 17, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko revealed that before the Alaska summit in August this year, he advised American leader Donald Trump to negotiate a cessation of hostilities with Russia.
In an interview with Newsmax TV, the Belarusian leader said that in a telephone conversation with the US president, he warned that serious work would be required to resolve the conflict.
"At that time, I advised him to make every effort to reach an agreement with Russia to stop the conflict," the BelTA news agency quoted him as saying.
At the same time, Lukashenko noted that Trump cannot resolve the conflict alone, since the process is multilateral and directly affects Russia, Ukraine and Belarus bordering the conflict zone.
"And Trump alone will not solve this issue," he stated.
In the same interview, Lukashenko called on Ukraine to establish contact with Russia, with which it is neighboring, and "not to wake the sleeping bear." The Belarusian leader added that if Ukraine wanted to pursue a certain language policy, it should have done so gradually, "step by step," and not just "shut up" its Russian-speaking population.
