The State Duma considered it possible to ban independent climbing on difficult peaks

The ban on independent climbing of Elbrus, introduced as an experiment, may be extended to other mountain peaks in Russia. This was announced on December 16 by Sergey Krivonosov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism, a member of the United Russia party.

"This model can be in demand on a number of high and difficult peaks, including in the regions of the Caucasus, Altai and Eastern Siberia, where there is a growing interest in extreme and sports tourism," he said in a conversation with TASS.
