Russia has developed a high-precision AI scanner for document recognition
VTB and T1 IT Holding have developed an AI scanner for document recognition on mobile devices. With the help of the solution, it is planned to optimize the registration of about 500 thousand banking products per month, VTB reported.
The AI scanner recognizes information from the client's identity documents: passports, birth certificates, SNILS, etc. As part of the work on the scanner, VTB has developed several dozen different artificial intelligence and data analysis algorithms that are responsible for identifying, sorting and systematizing scanned information, the bank said.
Evgeny Ivanov, Vice President and Head of the Department of Technological Development of Business Support Systems at VTB, called the creation of a high-precision document recognition system that works completely independently on a mobile device a "technological challenge." According to him, the new product was developed and implemented into the bank's processes in a short time.
"We see how artificial intelligence technologies are making banking services faster and more convenient for our customers. At the same time, ensuring the security of personal data and financial information is one of the main priorities for us in the bank's technological development," Maxim Konovalikhin, Senior Vice President, Head of VTB Bank's Data Analysis and Modeling Department, said in his turn.
