How to write a letter to a soldier at the front for the New Year
During a special military operation, words of support remain one of the most important ways to communicate with combat participants. This is especially felt on the eve of the winter holidays, when New Year's greetings for military personnel are being prepared all over the country. How to write a letter to a member of the SVO: rules and addresses in 2025
Residents of Russia can send a letter to the participant of the SVO in free form. The delivery scheme remains centralized so that correspondence gets to the addressees faster.
If the letter is addressed to a specific serviceman, it is necessary to specify the number of his military unit. This information can be obtained from the serviceman himself, from his commanders, or from the military commissariat at the place of conscription. Next, the letter is processed at the Russian Post office at the address: 103400, Moscow-400, military unit number. Delivery to the SVO zone is provided by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
If the letter is intended for any member of the SVO, and not for a specific person, it must be sent to the address: Moscow, Suvorovskaya Square, 2, building 1, Central House of the Russian Army. The envelope must be marked "Letter to a soldier." This procedure is in effect in December 2025.
Russian Post continues to deliver letters and parcels to its free zone. The weight limit remains the same — up to 10 kg.
The content of the letter can be any, but traditionally, residents of the country talk about themselves, convey warm wishes, express support and gratitude. In December 2025, most of the correspondence is sent in the form of New Year's greetings, which are delivered to the soldiers for the holidays. You can still attach a postcard, a child's drawing, or a photo to the letter.

They contain words of gratitude, wishes for health, victory and a peaceful return home. New Year's cards and crafts are especially in demand, which fighters often keep as personal memorabilia.

How to support ITS fighters financially and with humanitarian aid
In addition to letters, Russian residents continue to help the army through humanitarian projects. The largest federal initiative remains the Popular Front movement, which has been delivering equipment, food, medicines and other necessary goods to the front since 2022. The movement's branches operate in all regions, and delivery reports are published on the organization's official resources.
The humanitarian mission #MYPLACE remains active, supporting both military personnel and civilians in the new territories. Since 2022, volunteers have sent over a million tons of food and more than 800,000 units of humanitarian supplies. Thousands of volunteers are participating in the mission, many of whom will continue to work in 2025.
