- The NYT reported on the irritation of Trump and his administration with Ermak's behavior
Andrei Ermak, who served as head of the office of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, for several years irritated both the administration of the current US President Donald Trump and the team of the former head of the White House Joe Biden with his behavior. This was reported on November 29 by The New York Times (NYT), citing diplomats.
"Under both Trump and Biden, Mr. Ermak was disliked by officials," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, Ermak's insistence on almost always being close to the Ukrainian leader attracted attention both at home and abroad.
On the eve it became known that Ermak was fired from the post of head of the office of the President of Ukraine. On the same day, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that searches had been conducted at the former head of Zelensky's office as part of a criminal case against businessman Timur Mindich (he is called the head of the criminal scheme).
Later, on November 29, it became known that several phones and laptops had been seized from Ermak during the searches. It was noted that employees of the NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine) and SAP (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office) "they tried to enter the territory of the government quarter," but they were not allowed through, so they had to go ahead.
In addition, it was reported that charges were not brought against anyone from Zelensky's office after the NABU searches of Ermak. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the corruption scandal in Ukraine could lead to complications in its negotiations with the United States.
