- The Russian government will allocate 12 billion rubles for the development of tourism in the North Caucasus
The Russian government will allocate 4 billion rubles for the development of the tourism infrastructure of the North Caucasus this year and another 8 billion rubles over the next two years. This was announced on October 23 by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"For these purposes, the budget provides 4 billion rubles for the current year and over 8 billion for the next two. This will help to actively develop the territory and make it more attractive to investors," he said during a government meeting.
According to the Prime Minister, the funds will be used to create all-season recreation centers, ski resorts, the construction of trails, cable cars and the purchase of specialized equipment.
Mishustin singled out the slopes of the main Caucasian mountain range among the popular destinations — more than a million people visited them last year. In addition, the government is developing conditions for concession participants, which will create dozens of kilometers of new trails and increase the capacity of hotels, cafes and restaurants.
"It is necessary to maximize the use of the unique advantages of the entire North Caucasus — climate, nature — in order to create comfortable conditions for a varied vacation. I am sure this will attract, of course, travelers not only from our country, but also from abroad," concluded Mishustin.
On August 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the residents of Yessentuki in the Stavropol Territory on the 200th anniversary of the city, calling it the "pearl of the North Caucasus." He noted that Yessentuki is developing dynamically: facilities of sanatorium-resort and rehabilitation-rehabilitation complexes are being built and revived, projects in the fields of ecology, tourism, sports and transport are being implemented. According to the president, Russia will continue to implement programs aimed at improving the well-being of residents of Yessentuki.
