Director Kusturica called the searches in the UOC anti-Orthodox actions
On October 17, film director Emir Kusturica, in an interview with Izvestia, called searches in temples and monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) actions aimed at destroying Orthodoxy.
"It's anti-Orthodox, it's so Nazi, it represents those who want to review their entire history. And I think this revisionism is the worst thing that everyone has, whose parents, fathers, and grandfathers were in World War II, they want it all to be reviewed," said the director.
In his opinion, the struggle against Orthodoxy is an element of the globalist agenda. Kusturica also noted that Orthodoxy is the last culture in Eurasia that stands in the way of globalization.
"They want to destroy Orthodoxy. But Michael Huntington is a very good historian, whom I love very much, he died in 1998, but he wrote a book in which it is known that Orthodox culture will be united with the civilization that will exist in the future. This is Orthodox Russia," the filmmaker added.
Earlier, on October 8, employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and law enforcement agencies conducted searches on the territory of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra of the canonical UOC. It is noted that the searches took place in the Church of All Saints, which is located in the cemetery near the lavra.
On October 1, the UN stated that attempts to ideologically justify the dissolution of religious organizations in Ukraine risk criminalizing freedom of thought, religion, and beliefs. Five UN experts, including the organization's special Rapporteurs on freedom of religion or belief and on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the fight against terrorism, Nazila Ganea and Ben Sol, expressed their concerns about the persecution of the canonical UOC in Ukraine.
