Tutors in preparation for the Unified State Exam and the OGE in August 2025 are being sought twice as often as in the past, recruitment services told Izvestia. There is an increased demand for teachers in Russian, mathematics and English. Interest in Asian languages continues to grow, with Japanese, Chinese, and Korean among the top three. When choosing a teacher, it is important to pay attention to his specialized education, work experience and communication style, experts recommend. About what other trends are observed in the tutoring services market, see the Izvestia article.

Which tutors are most often sought after

The demand for tutors to prepare for the Unified State Exam and OGE has doubled by August 2025, the head of the Profi search marketing department told Izvestia.<url>" by Maria Safonova.

Most often, students of the graduating grades are looking for tutors in Russian, mathematics and English.

In particular, the demand for preparation for the OGE and the Unified State Exam in Russian increased by 20%, and tutors for preparation for specialized mathematics began to be sought 17% more often, the recruiting service estimated. In addition, the demand for teachers with knowledge of Asian languages continues to grow rapidly. The top three are Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Physics, literature, chemistry, computer science and robotics are also in demand, the head of the press service told Izvestia. hh.ru Maria Buzunova is in the regions.

Thus, the demand for tutors on the eve of the new academic year increased the most in the Stavropol Territory (by 111%), Irkutsk (86%) and Chelyabinsk regions (62%), in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (33%) and Bashkiria (55%). In Moscow, interest in teachers' services has increased by only 8% over the past month, while in St. Petersburg it has even decreased by 19%.

According to recruiting services, although tutors for the OGE and the Unified State Exam remain in the lead, in recent years demand has gradually shifted from "exam training." Parents are increasingly looking for teachers to prepare their children for Olympiads and develop in STEM disciplines, such as computer science, mathematics, and biotechnology.

— My son is in the 4th grade, he has been studying with a teacher in mathematics and robotics for six months. His task was to deepen his level of knowledge, as it was easy for him at school," Anna, a resident of the capital, shared on a website for finding tutors.

Interest in extracurricular activities is consistently high, said Svetlana Levchenko, head of the methodological department at <url>. The top three are chess, programming and robotics. Parents increasingly perceive them not as a hobby, but as a way to develop their child's logic, concentration, creativity and confident mastery of modern technology.

How much have tutor services become more expensive?

On average, the price of tutoring services has increased by 10%, and in Russian, mathematics and English — by 15%. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, teachers charge from 800 rubles per hour for a lesson.

In Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod, the minimum rate starts from 600 rubles per hour. In Voronezh, Krasnoyarsk, Samara and Krasnodar — from 500 rubles. Tutoring services in Volgograd and Ufa will be the cheapest — from 400 rubles, the recruiting service noted.

Parents of high school students spend from 4.5 thousand to 6 thousand rubles a week on tutoring services, and primary school students spend about 4 thousand rubles, Svetlana Levchenko said.

At the same time, most students prefer to communicate with teachers live rather than via video. Polina Goryacheva, a methodologist at the Tetrica online school, told Izvestia that about 40% of tutors teach remotely.

— The offline format retains its value, it is important for socialization and practical skills development. Therefore, many families choose a mixed model: the main learning base is online, and individual practical blocks and interaction are offline," she said.

Tutors began to earn 5% more than last year. The average income, as of July 2025, is almost 67 thousand rubles, said Maria Buzunova. Specialists in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District receive 110 thousand rubles above the market average, Magadan — 100 thousand rubles and Moscow — 87.5 thousand rubles.

— Technical subjects, such as mathematics and computer science, are more expensive than humanities. At the same time, teachers of foreign languages remain in price and compete in income with IT tutors," the recruiting service said.

How to choose a good teacher

Preference should be given to tutors with specialized pedagogical education and knowledge of modern teaching methods, Maria Safonova emphasized.

She advised parents to discuss the purpose of classes with the tutor in advance, for example, improving academic performance, eliminating knowledge gaps, or preparing for final exams. And also make sure that the teacher has a clear work plan.

— Parents are now approaching the search for tutors more consciously, — said Maria Safonova. — They pay attention not only to the result, but also to the process of gaining knowledge. Comfort in communication and the psychological "match" of a child with a tutor is an important selection criterion for many.

Child psychologist Natalia Naumova noted that a competent tutor supports a child during the learning process and tries to interest him in his subject.

— There are tutors who criticize children, raise their voices, and threaten to complain to their parents. All this is definitely not suitable for a child. A good teacher is looking for ways to explain the material to the child in a way that is understandable and interesting," she believes.

Before hiring a tutor, you should discuss with your child whether he needs the help of a teacher or if he wants to try to correct bad grades on his own.

— Maybe it's just a temporary setback. It is important to build a trusting dialogue and see what is best for the child in a particular situation. Sometimes you need to inspire, show that your parents believe in him, and give him the opportunity to improve himself," the psychologist reflects.

At the initial stages, parents should get involved in the process of educating their child with a tutor in order to understand whether the teacher is coping with his task and how communication develops. But when a student has been going to classes for a long time, it makes sense to trust a professional and let go of control, the psychologist recommended.
