Onishchenko recommended Russians to go to work on January 2
Russians should go to work on Friday, January 2, and also refrain from celebrating the New Year abroad in order to avoid undermining their immunity. This was announced on Tuesday, December 30, by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko.
"The best way is to leave work early on December 30 in the afternoon, celebrate the New Year, sleep it off and come to work on January 2," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, if citizens decide to leave the country and celebrate the holiday in warm countries, such as Thailand, they risk getting sick and losing their vacation. This idea, he explained, could be fraught with a long recovery process that would take two months.
On December 12, Philip Kopylov, a cardiologist and director of the Institute of Personalized Medicine at Sechenov University, warned Russians about a possible clash on holidays with the so-called "festive heart syndrome" — a violation of the heart rhythm against the background of alcohol intake. According to him, moderation in the consumption of appropriate beverages will allow avoiding this condition in January.
