Major Dmitry Shutov, a press officer of the Moscow Military District, has died. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry in an obituary on December 30.
Shutov was born in Izhevsk on November 3, 1994, and graduated from the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in 2016. He served as deputy commander of a motorized rifle company in the 12th Tank Regiment. In 2019, after completing retraining at the same university, he became an information support and public relations specialist. He began his service in a new position as head of the information support department in the 9th Guards Brigade of Management.
In 2020, while in Syria, the officer was covering the actions of Russian military personnel on the front line. From the very beginning of the special military operation, the major, being part of the press center of the Zapad group of forces, coordinated the work of journalists. His efforts, together with the Russian media, have created many reports, articles and publications on the Internet, telling about the daily service of Russian soldiers.
For his service, Major Shutov was awarded the medal "For Bravery" II degree (posthumously) and the Suvorov Medal, as well as other departmental awards. Before his death, the officer carried out combat missions in the Kupyansk area. The press officer is survived by his wife and two sons.
