Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky that the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on December 29 about the attack of Ukrainian drones on the state residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region is allegedly fiction.

"Zelensky's statements about the unwillingness of the Russian side to negotiate are a lie. And the words of [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov are true, and the Kiev regime will answer for these crimes," the diplomat said in her Telegram channel.

She also noted that Zelensky's statements about Butch, as well as about Ukrainian children allegedly stolen by Russia, are actually lies.

On December 29, Zelensky refused to acknowledge Kiev's involvement in the drone attack on the Russian leader's residence in the Novgorod Region. He noted that Kiev is working together with Washington to bring the conflict settlement closer.

Lavrov said earlier in the day that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had carried out a drone attack on the residence of the Russian president in the Novgorod region. He noted that Russia's negotiating position will be reviewed due to the attack, but the Russian Federation will not withdraw from the negotiation process.
