Greece, Israel and the Republic of Cyprus plan to step up joint air and naval exercises in the Eastern Mediterranean starting in 2026. This was reported by Reuters on December 29.

"Last week in Cyprus, senior military officials of the three countries signed a joint action plan for defense cooperation," the article says.

The agreement provides for joint naval and air force exercises. In the coming months, Greece will participate in the Israeli naval exercises Noble Dina. In addition, the pact provides for the transfer of advanced Israeli weapons in favor of Greece and Cyprus in order to increase their defense capabilities.

The defense cooperation was concluded after a trilateral summit in Jerusalem between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at which they concluded a deal to strengthen cooperation in the field of maritime security and energy.

Earlier, on November 24, it was reported about the launch of the major international exercises Freezing Winds 25 in the Baltic Sea with the participation of 11 NATO countries. It was clarified that in addition to Finland, military contingents from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and the United States took part in the exercises. The total number of forces involved was about 5,000 troops.

On November 22, CBS News reported that NATO forces had begun training in the Mediterranean Sea to prepare for a possible conflict with Russia, and a warship was involved. It was clarified that the Neptune Strike training takes place off the coast of Italy.
