According to him, it is better to prepare for a sudden shutdown in advance. It is worth having alternative lighting sources in the house — candles, lanterns, battery-powered lamps. When the power goes out, the first step should be to disconnect household appliances from the mains: a sudden voltage drop during the re-supply of electricity can damage electronics and shorten their service life.

"Uninterruptible power supplies can significantly increase the autonomy of household appliances: their use ensures the operation of routers, charging phones, alarm systems, and a refrigerator. UPS systems will also help to calmly shut down work on stationary devices, such as computers," the expert said.

If the owners are away for the holidays, it is recommended to use Wi-Fi sockets with notification function. They allow you to remotely monitor the power supply and signal failures. The specialist advises adding wireless temperature sensors to the refrigerator and freezer — this will help you react in time if defrosting occurs.

"Following these simple rules will help you stay calm and organized even in unexpected situations. Early preparation and equipping the house with autonomous power sources will not only protect household appliances, but also continue the celebration in a comfortable and safe environment, despite the vagaries of the weather," Tsereteli said.
