The price of gold futures dropped below $4,450 per troy ounce for the first time since December 22. This is evidenced by the data of the Comex exchange.

According to the trading statistics of the site, by 16:54 Moscow time, metal futures fell in price to the previous closing level and reached $4,446.5 per troy ounce. Thus, the price dropped below $4,450 for the first time in a week.

At the same time, silver futures for delivery in 2026 on the Comex exchange were at $72.96.

Earlier that day, Alexander Schneiderman, head of Alfa-Forex's customer support and sales department, told Izvestia that the sharp drop in prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium after a rapid increase at the end of the year is an expected correction and fits into market behavior at historically high levels. According to him, in such a situation, any reason — from profit—taking by large investors to changing expectations for the Fed's policy - leads to synchronous sales across the sector.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
