Putin signed the right of self-employed taxi drivers to work in foreign cars
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed amendments to the law on taxi localization. The document was posted on the government portal on December 29.
According to the amendments, for carriers who own a car for at least six months, the deadline for entry into force of the requirements for the localization level of the vehicle is postponed to January 1, 2033. This condition applies when entering information about the car in the regional register of passenger taxis within the quota of 25% established for each region. Only individuals with self-employed status will be able to work on such vehicles.
The document also extends the transition period for some territories. For vehicles registered in the passenger taxi registers of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, the new requirements will begin to apply from March 1, 2030.
The postponement is valid for the Kaliningrad Region until March 1, 2028. The same period is introduced for the subjects of the Russian Federation that are part of the Siberian Federal District.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law to increase fines for transporting children in a car without a car seat or other restraints.
