The weather forecaster warned of the coldest nights on January 1-2 in Moscow and the Moscow region.

The night of January 2 will be the coldest during the New Year holidays: the temperature in Moscow is expected to be -14 ...-16 degrees, in places in the region — up to -19 degrees. This was reported to Izvestia on December 29 by Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency.

According to her, Atlantic cyclones will arrive in the region all week, which will keep the pressure very low.

"On the 30th and 31st, there will be snow of varying intensity — from light to moderate. In early January, the weather will also remain cloudy, with a light snowfall. As for the temperature regime: Today, the air temperature will decrease during the day — we will be already in the rear of the cyclone. On Monday night, -7...-9 degrees are expected in Moscow, and tomorrow the daytime temperature will be about -6...-8 degrees," the expert said.

On New Year's Eve, it is forecast in Moscow from -13 to -15 degrees, in the region — up to -18 degrees. On the afternoon of January 1, the temperature will be about -10 degrees within the Moscow Ring Road and -9...-14 degrees in the region.

Pozdnyakova drew attention to the fact that warming is expected on January 3: -6...-11 degrees at night, -1...-6 degrees in the afternoon, about 0 degrees in places in the center of Moscow. By January 4, conditions in some areas will be close to a thaw.

Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said on December 24 that cloudy weather with short-term snowfalls is expected in the capital on December 31 and January 1. He specified that the expected temperature values will be about three degrees below the long-term average for this period.
