New measures to support families with children will be introduced in Russia

Starting from January 1, 2026, families with two or more children will have access to annual payments and increased benefits. This was announced on December 29 by Igor Balynin, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Finance at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"In 2026, a new support measure will be introduced for families with two or more children – an annual family payment. By making this payment, a portion of the personal income tax paid will be refunded," Balynin told RIA Novosti.

He added that an application for payment can be submitted through the portal of Public Services or personally contact the Social Fund or the MFC.

In addition, maternity and child care benefits will increase starting from the new year. The amount of payments will amount to 124,702 rubles for single pregnancies, 138,954 rubles for single pregnancies with complications, and 172,802 rubles for multiple pregnancies.

"These values are more than 20% higher than the minimum sizes used in 2025," the expert stressed.

Single benefit from January 1, 2026: new accrual rules and payment amounts

Starting in 2026, sick leave and maternity payments will be counted as labor income.

Earlier, on December 22, it was reported that monthly payments to families with children in 2026 will depend on the subsistence level and range from 9.2 thousand to 18.4 thousand rubles. The cost of living for children is expected to be 18.4 thousand rubles, for able—bodied citizens - 20.6 thousand rubles.
