Two men rescued children who had fallen through the ice in Balashikha. This was announced on December 28 in the press service of the Moscow Region Prosecutor's office in the Telegram channel.

"According to preliminary information, at about 6 p.m. on December 27, 2025, children were riding a slide near the Pekhorka River near the residential complex on Yaganova Street. At some point, two brothers aged 9 and 11 fell through the ice," the message says.

The first passerby, Arthur, pushed the younger boy onto the ice when he had already stopped breathing, and at the same time helped the elder to stay afloat. Later, another passerby, Alexei, came up and helped everyone else out onto the ice and gave first aid to the youngest.

"I took off my jacket and got into the water <...> When they pulled me out, I could already hear them saying that the boy was breathing, the little one. I am Sasha (the elder brother. — Ed.) pushed him ashore and began to take off all his wet clothes," Alexey shared in an interview with Izvestia.

It is noted that the prosecutor's office has begun checking the fulfillment of the duties of the juvenile neglect prevention authorities. The agency also intends to evaluate the actions of the children's legal representatives.

The day before, in Yakutsk, a car fell through the ice on the Lena River, there were eight people in the cabin, including one child. Five were able to get out, three remained in the car. Later, rescuers from the Yakutia Rescue Service and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations retrieved the car from the water. It contained the body of an 11-year-old girl. A criminal case has been opened.
