Russia is ready for possible epidemiological threats that may turn out to be more dangerous than COVID-19. This was stated on December 28 in the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova.

"We are much better prepared if we have to face something worse than covid. We are doing everything to take into account all the lessons for which we have paid such a high price," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

As Popova pointed out, Russia has undergone significant training during the COVID-19 pandemic, so in the event of the next epidemic, less stringent measures will be applied with greater effectiveness.

"Our task next time is to do without restrictions, without large—scale measures, without damage to the economy and, most importantly, without serious risks to the life and health of our citizens," she stressed.

Earlier this week, on December 25, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko warned that in the new year, schoolchildren will return to classes after the holidays on January 13, which will lead to an increase in the incidence of influenza due to the presence of a large number of children in one place. At the same time, Onishchenko pointed out that the epidemiological process is already underway.
