ROSSETI ensured maximum reliability of power supply to Vostochny cosmodrome
The ROSSETI Group has completed the second stage of a project to improve the reliability of the Vostochny cosmodrome's power supply. As a result, space infrastructure facilities have been able to be powered from two independent sources, which provides the first category of reliable power supply. This was reported by the Rosseti press service.
The solemn ceremony dedicated to the implementation of the project was attended by Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region, Andrey Ryumin, head of the ROSSETI Group, and Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of the Roscosmos State Corporation.
"Today, ROSSETI connected the energy infrastructure of the cosmodrome to the largest 500 kV Amurskaya substation in the Far East, which is located in Svobodny. This is an important step that has ensured reliable energy supply not only to Vostochny, but also to Tsiolkovsky. I thank everyone who participated in the implementation of this project," said Vasily Orlov.
As part of the second stage of the project, a new 220 kV open switchgear cell was installed at the substation and a power transmission line with a length of more than 58 km was built to the main step-down substation of the space complex.
Amurskaya plays an important role in the development of the Far East. This substation is part of the energy bridge that connects the Amur Region with neighboring regions and China, participates in the power supply of the Bureyskaya and Zeiskaya HPPs, feeds the Transsib and export pipelines. And now it solves another priority task: it ensures the maximum reliability category of power supply to an object of national importance — the Vostochny cosmodrome," said Andrey Ryumin.
Modern Russian switching equipment was used during the construction. Taking into account the passage of the route in the habitats of the Far Eastern stork, protective devices are installed on the supports.
"The creation of a sustainable energy supply system for the Vostochny cosmodrome is a significant event for the Russian rocket and space industry. Thanks to this project, the cosmodrome will receive 49 MW in the first category of reliability," said Dmitry Bakanov.
