On December 28, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences over the death of actress Brigitte Bardot on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"Brigitte Bardot personified the life of freedom. <...> We mourn the legend of the century," Macron wrote.

Earlier that day, the newspaper Le Figaro reported on the death of the actress. She was 91 years old.

Nice-Matin announced on October 16 that Bardot had been hospitalized for three weeks and had undergone surgery due to a "serious illness." It was noted that her health problems were so serious that the actress had to leave her home in Saint-Tropez and go to a hospital in Toulon.

Later, on November 24, the publication reported that the actress was taken to the hospital again. It was clarified that she had previously undergone surgery as part of the "treatment of a serious illness." No other details were given about this. The actress herself declared that she was "all right."
