- The Federal Tax Service issued a new invoice to Morgenstern after paying off the debt
The Federal Tax Service has billed rapper Alisher Morgenstern (included in the register of foreign agents in the Russian Federation) for more than 584 thousand rubles. This follows on December 28 from the data of the Federal Tax Service database.
"Foundation: Treasury of Russia (Federal Tax Service of Russia). Amount: 584,357.92 rubles," the agency's materials state.
The new debt appeared a few days after the repayment of the previous debt. In September, the tax authorities credited the contractor with about 683 thousand rubles, which he paid only at the end of December.
The Russian Ministry of Justice added the artist to the register of foreign agents on May 6, 2022. Morgenstern posted political materials aimed "at forming a negative opinion among society on conducting politics in Russia."
On September 8, 2024, a case was opened against the artist under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading duties provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation on foreign agents"). On October 11, the Moscow City Court ruled the musician's fine in this case lawful.
Sergey Zhorin, the lawyer of musician Morgenstern, told Izvestia on January 17 that the Investigative Committee of Russia had charged the Russian rapper with violating the law on foreign agents. On January 27, the Investigative Committee put Morgenstern on the wanted list as part of a preliminary investigation into a criminal case on violating the rules of a foreign agent.
