US President Donald Trump probably will not support the plan of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on December 28 by Welt TV channel correspondent Christoph Weiner, who is in Kiev.

"All this, apparently, will be rejected by the American president," he said, commenting on Zelensky's demands for territorial concessions from Russia. A fragment of his speech is quoted by the Welt TV channel in its You Tube channel.

The journalist also noted that Zelensky's initiative itself, in his assessment, does not contain constructive proposals and is mainly of a media nature. According to Weiner, such statements are aimed at distracting attention from the situation at the front and trying to present Zelensky as a peacemaker.

"This is certainly a media blunder that the President of Ukraine has started in the short term," Weiner concluded.

Earlier in the day, the White House announced that Trump and Zelensky would hold a meeting on Sunday, December 28, in Florida. According to the initial plans, the leaders would have started two hours later — at 23:00 Moscow time. According to CNN, representatives of the European Union will not attend the meeting.

On December 26, Trump called Zelensky's proposals to resolve the conflict "irrelevant" until he personally approves them.
