The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has initiated proceedings in connection with the behavior of players of the Canadian youth national team after the World Cup match against the Czech Republic. The relevant information was published on the official website of the organization on December 28.

"The IIHF has opened disciplinary proceedings regarding the incident that occurred after the Canada—Czech Republic match on December 26, 2025. The case will be reviewed in accordance with the IIHF disciplinary rules and established procedures. The IIHF is committed to protecting the tournament and maintaining its integrity," the statement said.

The federation stressed that all competitors must adhere to the "highest standards" to ensure fairness, respect and trust.

In the next round of the MFM group stage, the Canadians will play Latvia on December 28. The Czech Republic will meet with Denmark on the same day, adds Sport-Express.

Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that the Canadian national team beat the Czech Republic in the group stage of the youth hockey Championship. It is specified that the meeting ended with a score of 7:5. Brady Martin, Michael Hage, Zane Parekh, TJ Iginla, Ethan McKenzie and Porter Marton scored goals for the winners.

Later, on December 28, the Canadian Hockey Federation apologized for the incident when the national team players refused to shake hands with the Czech team after the MFM match.
