The liberation of the cities of Dimitrov and Krasnoarmeysk will allow Russian troops to bypass the powerful fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Druzhkovsko-Kramatorsko-Slavyansk agglomeration from the west. Military expert Yuri Knutov told Izvestia about this on December 28.

"The Druzhkovsko-Kramatorsko-Slavyanskaya agglomeration is very powerful — it is 50 km of fortifications that were built by the Kiev regime. But they are all facing east. The liberation of Dimitrov and Krasnoarmeysk will allow bypassing the fortifications and entering from the rear," the expert noted.

Knutov also added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered heavy losses in Dimitrov, amounting to thousands, as the command did not give the order to withdraw troops.

Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been informed about the liberation of Gulyai-Pole in the Zaporizhia region and Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). At a meeting on the situation in the special military operation zone, the commanders of the Center and Vostok military groups reported on the progress of combat missions, including the liberation of cities.
