The Ministry of Defense told the details of the liberation of Kosovtsevo in the Zaporizhia region

During the liberation of Kosovtseve in the Zaporizhia region, the military personnel of the Vostok group of forces secretly moved in small groups. This was announced on December 27 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"We entered the village and immediately gained a foothold in the first house — the enemy did not expect and did not even know that we were there. They moved noiselessly, entered quietly. They found the house where the Baba Yaga and FPV calculations were located, approached secretly and worked out. There was a moment: it was necessary to run across the postcard for three hundred meters. Halfway there, we see a machine—gun window. We didn't run back, we went on," said the platoon commander with the call sign Typhoon.

During the fighting, the guards of the 37th separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army advanced to a depth of 4 km and up to 6 km along the front. Control was established over the settlement and the surrounding area with a total area of more than 23 square kilometers.

"There were a lot of postcards, it was very slow. We selected the weather — fog, rain, wind. When we entered the settlement, the contact was direct, the battle was at a distance. In the forest belt, we were spotted by drones — first one, then five more. Six kamikazes surrounded. They shot back: one exploded, the others were shot down in the air," said the platoon commander with the call sign Samurai.

The liberation of Kosovtsevo in the Zaporizhia region was reported on December 26. In addition, the Russian military managed to defeat the manpower and equipment of six mechanized assault brigades, four assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

On the same day, the Ministry of Defense said that the liberation of the settlement made it possible to form a springboard for further offensive actions by the Vostok group. It is specified that the guards of the 37th separate motorized rifle brigade of the 36th combined arms army advanced up to 4 km in depth and up to 6 km along the front.

Later, the Samurai call sign said that during the retreat from Kosovtseve, the Ukrainian Armed Forces left behind mined mobile phones there, which detonate if a person picks them up.
