The State Duma appreciated the idea of sending troops under the EU flag to Ukraine
Russia has a very negative attitude towards the idea of one of the European parliamentarians to send troops to Ukraine under the flag of the European Union (EU). Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the Defense Committee, said this on Friday, December 26.
The day before, the head of the European People's Party (EPP), Manfred Weber, proposed sending EU troops to Ukraine, which would act together with Ukrainian soldiers under the flag of Europe.
"The Germans either got rid of the phantom pains, or they started again. They forgot 41-45, so they'll have to be reminded. Moreover, under the flag of not even the UN, but the European Union (they want to send troops, Ed.). All revanchist ideas haunt them. Apparently, the Germans are asking for it again. If they fall into the zone of our interests in the conduct of hostilities, then there is only one end — a wooden cross," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin said on September 28 that the European leaders' enthusiasm for sending a military contingent of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) to Ukraine hinders political progress in resolving the conflict. He also noted that sending NATO troops is an unacceptable option for Russia.
